CHEMICAL PEELS
WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
Hawaiian Islands Dermatology offers cosmetic and medical peels to regenerate the skin and leave a healthy glow. We also offer a variety of different types of peels depending on what you are trying to treat. Chemical peels use a chemical solution, usually an acid, to ‘peel’ away the top layers of the epidermis in order to improve conditions such as acne, irregular pigmentation, wrinkles and most importantly precancers. They can range from mild to aggressive and, depending on the nature and depth of the peel, a significant number of layers can be exfoliated. This allows new, fresh skin to be exposed.

MICRONEEDLING
WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling is a treatment consisting of many tiny needles piercing the epidermis. Microneedling stimulates collagen production to improve skin texture and help minimize acne scars, fine lines, saggy skin and wrinkles. Some patients also notice pore shrinkage following treatment. The microneedling process lasts 10-20 minutes and patients that use numbing cream are unlikely to experience pain. There is very little downtime needed to heal from a microneedling treatment, however patients will usually experience redness for some hours following.
